Morocco Reports Over 200 Child Rape Cases in 2021, Advocacy Group Says

In 2021, the "Don’t Touch My Child" Association handled 264 cases of child rape or assault nationwide.
In its annual report published on its Facebook account, the association once again deplored the mistreatment of some Moroccan children, despite the efforts made by the state and civil society.
In detail, the organization handled 205 cases of rape and abuse with some 122 female victims, including 3 with disabilities, and 81 male victims, the report notes, adding that two other cases of rape and abuse of adults were recorded.
In addition, the Association reported the case of a file concerning the rape and murder of a child, in addition to four cases of child murders and 54 cases of sexual assaults on children, most of which were referred to the National Observatory for Children’s Rights (ONDE).
Regarding the age group of the victims, the Association indicated that among the girls, the age is concentrated between 2 and 17 years old, with the presence of a 3-month-old and 6-day-old baby, while among the boys, the age of the victims is between 1 and 16 years old.
Faced with these sad data, the "Don’t Touch My Child" Association called for an in-depth investigation between the supervisory ministry and the police and judicial services, in order to ensure the integrity of the intervention.
