Morocco Reports Major COVID-19 Outbreak at Fruit Packing Plant, Officials Hold Emergency Meeting

The daily press conference of the Ministry of Health on new cases of coronavirus revealed, this Friday, an outbreak of nearly 600 cases in a red fruit packaging unit in Lalla Mimouna, near Kénitra. An emergency meeting was organized to counter these new infections at a time when Morocco is talking about deconfinement.

This meeting was held with the health and security authorities. The objective of this meeting is to enact new measures in production and industrial units in order to avoid such outbreaks in the future.

At the end of this meeting, the health authorities promised to further strengthen the controls at the level of these units and to focus on the screening campaign initiated within these same units.

To date, more than 22,000 tests have already been carried out in the industrial units of the province of Kénitra with a negative result on all the tested cases.
