Morocco Reports First Monkeypox Case in Patient from Europe

A first positive case of Monkeypox, the smallpox of the monkey, was recorded this Thursday in Morocco, according to the Ministry of Health. It is a case that came from a European country.
"As part of the national system of vigilance and epidemiological surveillance, and in application of its communication policy, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announces to the public that, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, the first confirmed case of Monkeypox was recorded," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the same source, the patient’s health condition is "stable and not worrying." He is currently receiving the necessary health care and "is being cared for in accordance with the approved health procedures," says the department of Khalid Ait Taleb.
To avoid falling into the trap of an epidemic, all contact cases of this person are under surveillance, even if they do not currently "show any symptoms". The Ministry of Health assures that regardless of the situation, measures will be taken in accordance with national and international health safety standards.
"The Ministry of Health and Social Protection will continue to communicate with the national public, and to inform them of all developments, as it has done since the beginning of this global health alert," the statement added.
