Morocco Reports Two New Coronavirus Cases in French Tourists

Two new coronavirus cases recorded in Marrakech have just been confirmed by the Moroccan Ministry of Health. They are two French tourists.

In a press release published online, the Ministry of Health indicates that these are the wife and daughter of the French tourist who tested positive for this virus and was declared the third confirmed case in Morocco.

These two new cases were detected as part of the implementation of the National Coronavirus Monitoring and Response Plan, particularly among people who have been in contact with patients, the same press release recalls. According to the Health Department, these two patients were already under medical supervision and quarantined for two days, before the analyses at the Pasteur Institute-Morocco laboratory confirmed their infection. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Morocco to five, all from regions where the disease has spread, the same source specifies.

Although the health status of these two new cases does not cause concern for the health authorities, they are currently under medical care in a hospital in Marrakech, where they are being treated in accordance with the applicable health measures.
