Morocco Reportedly Acquires Israeli-Made QuaDream Spyware, Similar to Pegasus

Morocco would be one of the countries that have acquired a new Israeli-made spyware similar to Pegasus used to target journalists and political figures in several countries.
QuaDream. This is the name of a new spyware developed by the eponymous company, the founder of which is a former Israeli military official and former member of the Israeli company NSO Group, the creator of Pegasus, said the Canadian research laboratory Citizen Lab, specifying that at least five people have been targeted by the software in North America, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Middle East. According to the cybersecurity organization, journalists, opposition political figures and a member of an NGO are among the victims.
Installed on a phone or computer, QuaDream can record the sound of a phone call, take photos and search the device’s files. Citizen Lab says it has identified servers in ten countries that have received data from the victims’ devices, including Israel, Singapore, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and Bulgaria. The organization will specify that countries like Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Ghana, or Indonesia and Morocco are among the buyers of the new spyware.
