Morocco to Repatriate Body of Young Athlete Killed in Spanish Traffic Accident

The Moroccan authorities have decided to cover the costs of transferring the remains of Hamza Bouazzaoui, the young Moroccan athlete who died on Tuesday, October 26 in a traffic accident that occurred in Calahorra in northern Spain.
Hamza Bouazzaoui, 19 years old, was returning by bicycle from work when he was the victim of a road accident, between San Adrián (Navarre) and Calahorra (La Rioja). Born in Berkane, the young Moroccan was the under-20 athletics champion of Navarre and had a promising future in this discipline. He had obtained Spanish nationality at the age of 18, reported El Faro de Ceuta.
A few days after his death, the Muslim community of Navarre and the athletics club of San Adrián of which he was a member, launched a crowdfunding on social networks in order to repatriate his body to Morocco. But the Moroccan government has finally decided to cover all the expenses related to the transfer of Hamza’s remains to Berkane, his hometown.
The family and friends of Hamza, highly appreciated in the world of athletics in Navarre, were touched by the words of support and affection addressed to them on social networks.
