Morocco to Repatriate 300 Citizens Stranded in Ceuta Due to COVID-19

Moroccans blocked in Ceuta due to the covid-19 crisis can breathe a sigh of relief. Repatriation will begin this Friday, following an agreement between the Moroccan and Spanish governments.
In order to know the exact number of people to be repatriated, a list is being drawn up, says El Faro de Ceuta. According to the Moroccan authorities, around 300 Moroccans blocked in Ceuta are concerned by the repatriation starting today. They are mostly workers, tourists or housekeepers. The number of Moroccans stranded abroad is estimated at more than 30,000 people, according to the head of government, Saâd Eddine El Othmani.
This repatriation was supposed to take place earlier, on May 17 precisely, but was prevented for various reasons. These include the swelling of the list of people wishing to return to Morocco. Added to this is the fact that members of the commission responsible for repatriating Moroccans blocked in Ceuta have included the names of their relatives and relatives on the list of people to be repatriated.
