Morocco to Repatriate 8,000 Stranded Citizens, Others Must Pay for Return

Morocco stepped up this week in terms of repatriating Moroccans stranded abroad. However, only 8,000 cases will be taken care of by the State, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nacer Bourita.
It will be difficult to allocate a budget for the repatriation of 32,000 citizens worldwide, the minister stressed, specifying that the operation primarily concerns people in difficult social and financial situations.
Giving the example of countries that sell entire packages to their compatriots stranded abroad, Bourita stated that "we will have to think about new formulas. The State will only be able to ensure the evacuation of 8,000 people".
Regarding the health protocol adopted by Morocco, the minister stressed that repatriated citizens must undergo a screening test upon arrival before being subjected to a 9-day quarantine. This is a sine qua non condition since some cases tested positive on the eighth day of confinement.
