Morocco Reopens Tangier-Malaga Ferry Route for Repatriation Efforts

The reopening of the Moroccan-Spanish borders is an exceptional measure that will allow the repatriation of Spaniards and Moroccan residents in Spain, starting next week.
For Alyaoum24, the decision of the Moroccan government to suspend the link between Tanger-Med and Malaga since March 13, did not concern the transport of goods, whose activity has been maintained despite the state of emergency.
The reopening of this line to passengers, adds the site, comes following the decision of the Spanish authorities to stop the repatriation of its citizens by air and to replace it with a series of maritime services in order to allow thousands of Spanish and Moroccan nationals to return to their places of residence.
However, the news would not have been welcomed by all nationals, particularly those who do not have vehicles registered in Europe. In addition, and as a safety measure, the "Bahama Mama" boat, owned by the shipping company Balearia, with a capacity of 1,000 passengers and 350 vehicles, will be limited to 650 travelers on its first crossing.
