Morocco Reopens Borders: Tourism Officials Meet to Revive Key Economic Sector

Nearly 48 hours after the government’s decision to partially open the borders on the national territory, tourism professionals are meeting on Friday with the supervisory authorities to relaunch this key sector of the Moroccan economy.
This emergency meeting will bring together, on Friday, the Ministers of the Interior, Agriculture and the Minister in charge of Tourism, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, with the contribution of the National Tourism Council (CNT), the Regional Tourism Councils (CRT) and other tourism professionals.
Scheduled to take place at the Wilaya of Rabat in the morning, this meeting should study the support and relaunch measures for this key sector of the national economy.
Tourism professionals and local authorities are expected from all regions and planes have been chartered for the occasion. According to the organizers, a plane should take off at 3 a.m. from Dakhla with on board in particular the Wali and the CRT of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab. It will then make a stopover in Laâyoune and Guelmim, before landing in Rabat.
The announcement of a partial reopening of the borders has dampened the hopes of tourism professionals who were counting on the return of tourists and Moroccans living abroad to save part of the summer season.
