Morocco Reopens Airspace: Tour Operators Optimistic for Spring-Summer Travel Rebound

The announcement of the reopening of Moroccan airspace from February 7 delights tour operators who are showing a certain optimism for the spring-summer season. They are betting on the Moroccan destination to rebuild a good financial health in these times of Covid-19.
"For us, it is a strategic destination and as soon as it reopens, it should be a hit. At first, there will be a bit of hesitation, but there could be some last-minute bookings as soon as it opens. Many medium and long-haul destinations have taken advantage of the closure of Morocco. We want to regain a strong position on the destination," says Raouf Benslimane, CEO of ÔVoyages and Thalasso n°1, to TourMag. This tour operator plans to program 4 clubs, including 3 in Marrakech and 1 in Agadir for the spring - summer 2022 season.
Philippe Sangouard, director of Boomerang — Kappa Club, is also full of optimism. "When the ’go’ is given, it can take off very quickly. For Easter, the destination will be full, he assures. For 2 years, we’ve been doing the yo-yo and when a destination reopens, the customers are there. Morocco is served from many French cities, with the "flex", it will be easy to meet the demand." Axel Mazerolles, CEO of FTI Voyages, shares this view. This tour operator will program two clubs in Marrakech and Agadir. "We are counting on a strong recovery for April - May, and on a very strong boom in bookings, he says. Morocco has been missed by the French, it is a basic for travelers from the Hexagon, it is a unique destination."
"Morocco remains one of the only year-round sun destinations open. It is a flagship and essential destination that has no real equivalent and shows a strong loyalty rate. At TUI France, there was a strong attractiveness for the destination before the border closures. Morocco ranked third on the podium," adds TUI France. Mondial Tourisme also expresses its interest in the Moroccan destination. From February 2022, the tour operator will program, for the very first time, several 4* and 5* hotels, as well as a 4x4 circuit and an Imperial Cities circuit.
