Morocco Reopens Air and Sea Borders for Citizens and Residents Stranded Abroad

After extending the state of health emergency until August 10, the Moroccan government authorizes its nationals and foreign residents in Spain to return to the kingdom by plane, with departures from Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga.

As announced last Wednesday in a joint press release from the Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad and Health, Moroccan citizens, Moroccan tourists stranded abroad, Moroccans residing abroad in Morocco and their families will be able to access the kingdom, by air and sea, from midnight.

The land borders, closed since March 13, will remain closed until further notice. Including those with Ceuta and Melilla, thus preventing the holding of this year’s Marhaba operation.

On the other hand, the country’s airlines are preparing to resume their activities this Wednesday, July 15. The national airline, Royal Air Maroc, announced on Friday that it will operate special flights between Casablanca and Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga.

These "special" flights will be operated "under certain conditions," Royal Air Maroc said in a statement. The company specified that these will be round-trip flights scheduled in connection with the government, and which will be carried out with a "limited" number of destinations, some of which are already served by Royal Air Maroc.

In addition, Air Arabia has also announced flights from Casablanca, Fez and Nador to Barcelona in Spain, from Nador to Palma de Mallorca and from Tangier to Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona.
