Morocco Reopens 10,000 Mosques for Friday Prayers with 15-Minute Sermon Limit

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced this week the resumption of Friday prayers in 10,000 mosques across the kingdom, subject to limiting the duration of the sermon to 15 minutes.
The preventive measures imposed by the ministry are motivated by the monitoring of the epidemiological situation in the country and its concern for the health of the faithful, the ministry had specified.
Of the 51,000 mosques closed since last March, only 10,000 have been authorized to welcome the faithful, as of October 16, for the 5 daily prayers and the Friday sermon.
For now, the ministry insists that all the barrier gestures, announced last July, be scrupulously respected by the faithful.
