Morocco Remains Spain’s Top Trading Partner, Boosting EU Imports

Spain remains at the beginning of this year the main commercial partner of the kingdom, according to the latest figures published on Tuesday by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).
Thus, in January, Spain accounted for 41.1% of the total imports of the European Union, up 10% compared to the same period last year. France takes second place with 30.4% market share, followed by Italy (6.9%), Germany (4.6%) and the United Kingdom (4.5%).
For its part, Morocco remains the 11th supplier of Spain worldwide and the 4th if we take into account that the European Union. The kingdom is ranked behind China, the United States and Turkey.
In detail, Morocco mainly exports fruits and vegetables, automotive equipment as well as cars, which nevertheless experienced a substantial 17% drop in January.
According to Eurostat, Spanish exports to Morocco recorded a 9% increase at the end of January to reach 703 million euros. In total, more than 5,400 Spanish companies have exported to Morocco, including 3,351 regular companies.
