Morocco Remains Attractive Tourism Destination Despite Global Health Crisis, Study Finds

The general perception of the Moroccan destination remains "positive" despite the international situation marked by the health crisis. This is the result of the "Tourism Marketing Days".
The organization of this event allowed the various tourism stakeholders to gather around a common goal: to lay the foundations for a gradual and sustainable recovery. The study conducted in June, at the initiative of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), indicates that Morocco remains a favorable destination, despite the international context related to the coronavirus pandemic.
It cites the richness, authenticity, security, generosity, and diversity as aspects that attract the attention of tourists in Morocco. It also emerges that Chefchaouen is currently imposing itself in the overall image of the kingdom, following the ochre city, Marrakech, not to mention the desert.
For the CEO of ONMT, Adel El Fakir, there is a "need to act with the few possibilities offered to us. We must not wait to have the best conditions. We must act today, together, directly on the markets, to have an impact."
Hamid Bentahar, for his part, explained that the tourism recovery includes at least 50% recovery of air traffic and the lifting of travel restrictions between cities. In the same vein, the Minister of Tourism, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, stressed that "we are still considering the recovery, because we can, but in a specific health context."
This second edition of the Tourism Marketing Days, organized by ONMT on the theme "Act, Conquer, now", was held in a semi-face-to-face format, with the participation of all tourism professionals on the strategic issues of the sector, and broadcast on one of the 2M channel’s studios.
