Morocco Releases 340 Million Dirhams in Fuel Aid to Transport Sector

The direct aid announced to Moroccan transporters to mitigate the soaring fuel prices is effective. To date, the government has already released some 340 million dirhams.
Speaking before the deputies on Tuesday, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, provided an update on the progress of the distribution of this support to transporters.
Launched on March 23, the "Mouakaba" platform, dedicated to the centralization of requests, has already registered 70% of beneficiaries out of the 180,000 vehicles targeted as part of the operation, the minister said, specifying that a budget envelope of around 340 million dirhams has been released by the executive.
Regarding the draft law governing the indexation of the price of road transport to the price of fuel, the minister explained that "the implementation of this indexation mechanism will improve transparency in the relationship between the two parties and avoid weighing on the weaker party. The draft law gives a legal character to any possible revision of the pricing."
