Morocco Releases 250 Dirham Commemorative Coin Honoring King Mohammed VI

On the occasion of the celebration of the 21st anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) has issued a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 250 dirhams.

In a press release, the Moroccan central bank announced the circulation of this coin from November 9, 2020 at its counters.

In the presentation, the new coin reveals on the obverse an effigy of King Mohammed VI with inscriptions in Arabic "Mohammed VI" and "Kingdom of Morocco" and at the bottom the year 2020-1442. On the reverse, the new coin shows at the top the inscription in Arabic "45th anniversary of the Green March" with its French translation at the bottom, the statement said.

As for the center of the reverse, it presents an aerial view of the city of Dakhla and the Atlantic coast as well as the Moroccan flag in color displayed in the Al Montazah square in Dakhla in 2010. According to BAM, the center of the reverse is not only adorned with the number 45 but also bears the face value of 250 dirhams in figures and in Arabic letters, as well as the inscription "November 6, 2020" and its translation into Arabic.

As for the technical characteristics of the coin, they are presented with a silver (925‰) and copper (75‰) alloy, a weight of 28.28 grams, a diameter of 38.61 millimeters, a reeded edge and a proof strike.
