Morocco Reforms Agricultural Land Laws to Boost Investment and Rural Development

The Council of Government has adopted Bill No. 62-19 relating to special provisions concerning the acquisition by public limited companies or joint-stock companies of agricultural or arable land outside urban areas.
This reform is fully in line with the royal guidelines for strengthening and facilitating investors’ access to land. It takes into account both natural and legal persons.
In October 2018, King Mohammed VI had delivered a speech on the subject at the opening of the fall session of Parliament. "The agricultural sector can be a more efficient provider of jobs and a more effective instrument for ensuring better living and settlement conditions in rural areas," the sovereign had declared. He had indeed called for strengthening and facilitating investors’ access to land.
