Morocco Recalls Ambassador as Tunisia Hosts Polisario Leader, Sparking Diplomatic Row

The day after Tunisia’s invitation of the Polisario leader, Brahim Ghali, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) reacted, condemning the "immature and hostile" approach of Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed.
This attitude of Tunis has prompted Morocco to recall its ambassador to Tunisia. This is "a serious and unprecedented act, which deeply offends the feelings of the Moroccan people and its driving forces," the Moroccan authorities said.
For its part, the RNI declared that "this unprecedented hostile act, towards our country and its territorial integrity, concretely confirms the series of impasses into which Kaïs Saïed has unfortunately dragged the sister Tunisia by taking unilateral and hostile decisions towards friendly countries, which do not benefit the Tunisian people at all."
In a statement, the dove party explains that "through this hasty and immature approach, the Tunisian regime is now aligning itself alongside the enemies of the Kingdom and the supporters of the separatist theses, a situation that would seriously exacerbate the differences and affect the region whose peoples aspire to stability and the consolidation of democracy."
Kaïs Saïed’s attitude "can only confirm the persistent series of hostile behaviors to the supreme interests of the Kingdom and transgressions of all the customs of brotherhood and good neighborliness," the same source points out, adding that "this unilateral act of hostility has unfortunately offended all the components of the Moroccan nation, as well as affecting the project of the Great Maghreb."
