Former Tunisian President Slams Saïed for Welcoming Polisario Leader at TICAD Summit

The welcome of the Polisario leader Brahim Ghali at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) which ended this Sunday, August 28 in Tunis continues to provoke reactions. Moncef Marzouki, former Tunisian president, denounces the attitude of the current Tunisian leader Kaïs Saïed, and expresses his support for Morocco.
Another voice is rising against the welcome reserved for the separatist leader by the current Tunisian head of state, Kaïs Saïed. In a post on his Facebook account, Moncef Marzouki, former Tunisian president, protests against "the act of triumphantly welcoming the Polisario leader as if he were world-renowned." This welcome "is condemnable and detrimental to the interests of Tunisia and Morocco," he said.
The former Tunisian leader also denounced Algeria’s creation of a "sixth state in the Maghreb." According to him, this is impossible to achieve. "The only solution that is in their interest, and that of all the Maghrebians, lies in autonomy with all the components, without excluding any political party within the vast country that is Morocco," added Moncef Marzouki.
