Morocco Recalls Ambassador as Tunisia Hosts Polisario Leader at Africa-Japan Summit

The rapprochement between Algeria and Tunisia is being confirmed. After the invitation by the country of Kaïs Saïed of the Polisario leader, Brahim Ghali, Morocco has decided to recall its ambassador to Tunisia.
Morocco will not participate in the 8th TICAD Summit being held in Tunisia on August 27 and 28 and will immediately recall in consultation the King’s Ambassador to Tunis, "following the attitude of this country within the framework of the Japan-Africa cooperation forum, which comes to flagrantly confirm its hostility towards the Kingdom."
For the Moroccan authorities, "after having recently multiplied negative positions and acts towards the Kingdom of Morocco and its supreme interests, the attitude of Tunisia within the framework of the TICAD process (Japan-Africa cooperation forum) comes to flagrantly confirm its hostility."
This invitation of the Polisario leader goes against "the opinion of Japan and in violation of the preparation process and the established rules," the country having "unilaterally decided to invite the separatist entity," specifies the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Morocco, this is "a serious and unprecedented act, which deeply hurts the feelings of the Moroccan people and its driving forces."
