Morocco Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Rights Amid US Middle East Peace Plan

Morocco remains faithful to its convictions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Vice-President of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun, reaffirmed on Saturday, February 8 in Amman, Morocco’s firm and lasting support for the rights and just cause of the Palestinian people.
The President of the House of Representatives reiterated Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause, during the 30th extraordinary meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union, devoted to examining the implications of the American peace plan in the Middle East. "The Kingdom of Morocco, King, government and people, reaffirms its permanent support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to find a just and definitive solution to its just cause," he stated.
He further specified that the position of the Kingdom "does not waver", and that the Palestinian cause, including the issue of Al Quds with its status and holy sites, are deeply embedded in the heart of all components of the Moroccan people. Morocco believes that the solutions to peace in the Middle East cannot come from a single party. They must take into account the "Palestinian, Arab and Islamic proposals, the resolutions of the Security Council and the Charter of the United Nations".
This meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union is timely and provides an opportunity to restore the cohesion of Arab parliamentary action and unify positions in order to enable the coordination and unification of the central issues of the Ummah, and in particular the Palestinian cause.
