Morocco Reaffirms Film Industry Commitment After ’Gladiator 2’ Set Accident

It was in the middle of the set of the historical drama "Gladiator 2" in Ouarzazate that the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mehdi Bensaid, chose to reassure and highlight the Moroccan Hollywood.
This visit comes a week after the accidental explosion that injured six people on the set, an incident that has not, however, tarnished the international reputation of the city.
Accompanied by director Ridley Scott, the minister affirmed the international vocation of Ouarzazate and Morocco as filming locations for global film productions, highlighting the importance of these productions for the local economy, with a multitude of direct and indirect jobs.
Mehdi Bensaid sought to reassure the film community, stating that the ministry will continue to support productions and actively participate in the projects of the film and cultural industry.
For the government official, the recent incident in no way affected the appeal of Ouarzazate for international stars wishing to shoot their films in this mythical place.
