Morocco Ranks Among Top 10 Halal Travel Destinations in Global Muslim Tourism Index

Morocco maintains its place among the 10 best halal destinations, within the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to the Global Muslim Travel Index-2019.
The 2019 report on international halal destinations places Indonesia and Malaysia in pole position among OIC member countries, while Singapore takes first place in the list of non-Muslim countries, followed by Thailand, the United Kingdom, Japan and Taiwan.
In 2018, 140 million Muslim tourists, around 10% of global tourism, traveled around the world, the report states, which was based on four criteria in the evaluation of 130 international destinations, namely accessibility, communication, environment, and services.
Considered the most dynamic segment in global tourism, halal tourism is likely to see its market share in the global economy jump by 35% by 2026, the report’s authors predict, with an estimated value of $300 billion.
