Morocco Ranks in Global Top 10 for COVID-19 Vaccination Progress

With over 4.5 million people vaccinated, Morocco is successfully leading its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus and ranks in the top 10 worldwide in terms of the vaccinated population compared to the number of inhabitants. The French radio RTL salutes the efforts of the kingdom.
Highlighting the strategies put in place by Morocco in the fight against the epidemic, the French media points out that the kingdom, already at the height of the epidemic, had distinguished itself from other African countries with economic and social support measures.
In an article published on its website, the media explained that in July 2020, the kingdom had already signed an agreement with China for the construction of a vaccine factory in the north of the country before signing the following month with Sinopharm, a new agreement for the delivery of 40.5 million doses of the Chinese vaccine.
September 2021, Morocco signs another "agreement with the manufacturer of the British vaccine AstraZeneca which provided for the delivery of 25.5 million additional doses," recalls the French radio, adding that to make up for the supply disruption, the kingdom has also negotiated 1 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which resulted in an agreement on March 9.
Even better, continues the radio, the logistics deployed in the Moroccan vaccination campaign contribute to the success of the operation. "3,000 vaccination centers have been set up (compared to 1,300 in France), 50% of which are in rural areas, not to mention the 10,000 mobile units," notes RTL.
In Morocco, "to make an appointment, you just have to send a free SMS with your ID number. Then the date and place of vaccination are sent back immediately by SMS," the same source points out.
Within the European Union, only Hungary and Finland are ahead of Morocco, where 11.5% of the population have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
