Morocco Ranks 67th Globally in Gold Reserves, World Gold Council Reports

With its 22.1 tons of gold, representing 5.4% of its foreign exchange reserves, Morocco is the 67th largest holder of the precious metal in the world, according to data published in March 2025 by the World Gold Council.
These statistics are based on information from the central bank indicating stability in Morocco’s gold holdings compared to previous years. Faced with global economic crises, the precious metal preserves the value of monetary reserves.
In the Arab world, Morocco, with its 22.1 tons, is positioned ahead of Tunisia (6.8 tons) or Jordan (78.7 tons), but far behind Saudi Arabia (323.1 tons) and Lebanon (286.8 tons).
The United States remains the world’s top holder of gold with 8,133.5 tons. They are followed by Germany (3,351.5 tons) and the International Monetary Fund (2,814 tons).
