Morocco Ranks 5th in Middle East and North Africa for Expat Quality of Life

Morocco has just outperformed other countries in terms of quality of life for expatriates. It thus finds itself in the fifth place of the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
This Expatriate Quality of Life Index takes into account factors belonging to several different sub-categories: leisure, health and well-being, security, personal happiness, travel and transportation, as well as digital life.
Recalling Morocco’s performance, Challenge reports that the Kingdom ranks 27th for entertainment options, 7th for personal happiness, 50th for travel and transportation, 51st for health, 42nd for security and peace, and 59th for digital life.
The Expatriate Quality of Life Index indicates that the Middle East and North Africa region has been dominated by the United Arab Emirates, ranking 21st globally, followed by Bahrain at 26th, and Qatar and Oman at 35th, while internationally, it is Portugal that tops the list, followed by Spain, Taiwan, Singapore, Switzerland, and then Australia.
Furthermore, the report of this Index specifies that, for a few years now, Morocco "has moved from a transit country to a permanent residence country for migrants". In other words, "after having been a transit bridge to Europe for many migrants from sub-Saharan Africa, the Kingdom has now become a country of stability".
These performances of Morocco, according to the same source, are explained by new measures, one of the most important of which is the new immigration policy advocated by King Mohammed VI since 2013, which will have allowed the regularization of the situation of thousands of illegal immigrants, the majority of whom are Africans, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior.
