Morocco Ranks 144th Globally in Gender Equality, World Economic Forum Reports

The 2021 ranking of the Global Gender Gap places Morocco in 144th place worldwide out of the 156 indexed countries and in 12th place in the MENA region according to the 2021 report of the World Economic Forum (Davos). This is a ranking based on gender inequalities in the world.
It appears from this report that half of the 156 indexed countries are recording an improvement. However, women still only occupy 26.1% of parliamentary seats and 22.6% of ministerial positions worldwide. In this area, Morocco is ranked 113th out of 156 countries.
The economic gap between men and women has only seen a slight improvement since the 2020 edition and should take another 267.6 years to be resolved. For its part, Morocco is ranked 148th on the basis of this criterion. In the fields of education and health, the gaps are almost filled. 37 countries have achieved gender parity in education. Morocco is positioned in 116th place regarding the gap in education.
At the level of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Morocco is in 12th place. Israel is at the top of the podium, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Tunisia. Yemen, on the other hand, is in 19th and last place.
