Morocco to Raise Gas Cylinder Prices Gradually, Introduce Social Assistance Program

The gas cylinder sold in Morocco should see its price gradually increase over three years, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has just revealed.
Currently sold at 42 dirhams, its price should increase by 10 dirhams as early as next year, then by 10 dh the following year, until reaching 70 dirhams in 2026, the Head of Government specified.
This increase will be accompanied by the launch as early as next January of a direct social assistance of 200 dirhams for each child from a poor family, allowing the poorest families to feel this increase in the gas bottle less, the price of which has not increased for many years.
According to Akhannouch, some 4 million people have been enrolled in the Mandatory Health Insurance (AMO) Tadamoun and will therefore be able to receive state aid. Other announcements should follow shortly concerning other categories.
