Morocco’s Rabat-Salé Airport to Implement Facial Recognition Technology

In order to improve passenger security and flow, Rabat-Salé airport is preparing to equip itself with a facial recognition system. A call for tenders has been launched for this purpose and the opening of the bids is scheduled for September 15th.
The contract concerns the acquisition of a ONE-ID biometric digitization system, also called the "Biometric Passenger Services System (SSPB)" based on facial recognition, according to a press release from the National Airports Office (ONDA).
More specifically, the new system has a mobile application to allow biometric enrollment and creation of the passenger’s biometric profile, self-service check-in kiosks (12 units), biometric self-bag drop kiosks (12 units), a biometric automatic access gate to the sterile area (E-Gate) (8 units), biometric boarding kiosks (12 units) and information kiosks (8 units).
The installation of this technology will allow ONDA to improve the processing and quality of service provided to travelers. The objective is also to streamline passenger traffic by reducing physical interactions and avoiding queues during check-in.
