Morocco Pushes to Reduce French in Government Systems, Boost Arabic and Amazigh

Moroccans suffer from the predominance of the French language in the computer transactions of Moroccan administrations. This is the finding made by the parliamentary group of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), which calls on the Minister of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform to guarantee the supremacy of the Arabic and Amazigh languages.
A rather worrying finding. During a question addressed to the Minister of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, during the oral question session at the House of Representatives on January 8, the RNI parliamentarian, Mohammed Choukri, welcomed the various important government measures that have helped restore the nobility of Amazigh, including the project to integrate the Amazigh language into the public administration and support its use. This project benefits from funding of 300 million dirhams. The government should increase this budget to one billion dirhams in the coming years. The elected representative also welcomed "the commendable effort of the government in the sectors of education, justice and audiovisual media." But one situation worries him: the predominance of the French language in the computer transactions of Moroccan administrations, which Moroccans suffer from.
"Despite these unprecedented achievements in this area, the suffering of citizens in the face of the predominance of French in administrative computer transactions remains a black spot, especially since it is to the detriment of the rights of the two official national languages, Arabic and Amazigh," observes the president of the Finance and Economic Development Committee of the House of Representatives, deploring Morocco’s inability to overcome the French language in its administrative computer system. "We are in favor of linguistic diversity in administrative management, but it must be done by regulated means that do not deprive the two official languages of their rights," he adds. Based on this finding, the RNI elected representative calls for guaranteeing the supremacy of the Arabic and Amazigh languages in administrative and computer management and establishing their place in the administration, education and computer systems that manage the administration and in all aspects of public life. This should help alleviate the suffering of users.
