Morocco’s Private COVID Clinics Under Fire for Overcharging Patients

Private clinics specializing in the care of patients with Covid-19 are overcharging for care, thus trampling on professional ethics.
After having been of great use to the State at the height of the health crisis related to the coronavirus, some approved private clinics are offering their services to the population. Except that things are not going according to the rules. These clinics practice free pricing, without control. Exasperated, patients denounce abusive bills and poor treatment.
In videos shared on social media in recent days, Moroccans denounce, openly, the fraudulent practices of certain clinics that overcharge for services, reports Maroc Hebdo.
Some say that patients are forced to pay hefty bills even though they have not been isolated and have not followed any anti-covid treatment as required by the health protocol.
The examples are legion. The Akdital group, for example, applies a rather special pricing. "While the rate for a stay in intensive care should not exceed 2,500 dirhams/day, this group requires patients to pay an advance of 60,000 to 100,000 dirhams before any admission, either in cash or in the form of guarantee checks."
