Morocco Prepares for School Reopening Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases

The start of the school year in Morocco is scheduled for September 7, in a context marked by a resurgence of cases of contamination by the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Ministry of National Education is taking into account face-to-face teaching for the start of the school year. Many parents are already worried and fear a worsening of the situation by mass contamination cases, even if a health protocol has been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus in schools, according to Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
According to Jaafar Heikel, epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist, schools will not be able to escape contamination hotspots and clusters. These are patterns that will have to be expected throughout the year. But he reassures that children who test positive have fewer complications than adults. Several scientific studies have shown that children do not often develop severe forms of the coronavirus.
