Morocco Prepares for AFCON Qualifiers with Relaxed Training Camp

The Moroccan national team has set up camp at the Mohammed VI Football Center in Maamora to prepare for the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Already qualified and undisputed leaders of their group, the Atlas Lions are approaching this new stage with serenity.
For this first training session, Walid Regragui focused on recovery. Aware of the efforts made by his players in recent club matches, he favored a light session to preserve their physical condition. Tactical exercises and intensive training will start from this Tuesday.
Although qualified automatically for the CAN as the host country, the Moroccan team is not taking these matches lightly. The matches against Gabon and Lesotho are an opportunity for Walid Regragui to test new tactical options and evaluate young players. The objective: to build a solid and performing group for the CAN and the qualifications for the next World Cup.
Morocco will face Gabon in Franceville on Friday, then Lesotho in Oujda next Monday. Two matches which, although they have no impact on the standings, will allow the Atlas Lions to continue their preparation and present themselves in their best form in front of the Moroccan public.
For these two matches, the Moroccan team will have to do without Ilias Akhomach who, summoned by the coach, will not come due to injury, which should keep him away for several weeks. A replacement should be called up during the day.
