Morocco Prepared for Gas Pipeline Shutdown as Algeria Ends Agreement

The termination of the Morocco-Europe Gas Pipeline contract by Algeria will have only a negligible impact on the immediate performance of the national electricity system.
This is what a joint press release from the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) indicated, published a few hours after the official announcement by the Algerian authorities, of no longer renewing the GME agreement.
The Moroccan authorities have assured that in view of the threats, the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the continuity of the country’s electricity supply, adding that the kingdom is examining several avenues to find lasting solutions in the medium and long term.
