Morocco’s Poultry Industry in Crisis as Chicken Prices Plummet

The price of chicken has dropped from 12 dirhams per kilogram to 8 dirhams. This is the situation in the livestock sector in Morocco in recent weeks.
Drastic drop in chicken prices, over-indebtedness, supply far exceeding demand, loss of capital, etc. The livestock sector is sinking further every day. In a press release, the Inter-professional Federation of the Poultry Sector is alerting the public to this situation that has been going on since the 2017 crisis.
In view of this worrying picture, which is causing the worst fears for the sector, the breeders are calling on the government for help and are seeking its support to help them overcome this crisis. Because the signs of the bankruptcy of the livestock sector are already perceptible.
For the breeders, the hijacking of the poultry market by certain well-established individuals would be at the root of the misfortune that is striking the sector.
