Morocco Poultry Farmers Warn of Chicken Price Hike Amid Rising Production Costs

In Morocco, chicken prices are likely to rise in the coming days due to increases in input prices, warned the National Association of Broiler Chicken Breeders in Morocco (ANPC).
The Association expressed concerns about the rise in the prices of elements entering the production of broiler chickens, revealing that the price of chicks has reached nearly nine dirhams and that the price of compound feed has not decreased while it has decreased on the world market. This situation will lead to an increase in the cost of chicken production, which will contribute to the loss of small breeders and the destruction of the purchasing power of Moroccans, already weakened by galloping inflation and high prices of sheep for the Eid al-Adha sacrifice.
To avoid a pass-through of the surge in input prices to the final selling price of this product, the National Association of Broiler Chicken Breeders in Morocco has called on the competent authorities to urgently take measures to relieve both small and medium-sized breeders and consumers. The Association calls for the opening of an investigation to determine the causes of the heavy losses suffered by small and medium-sized breeders. It also invites the Competition Council to take into account its proposals presented at the meeting of June 13.
