Morocco Postpones High-Level Summit with Spain over Polisario Leader’s Visit

Displeased with Spain for hosting Brahim Ghali, the Polisario leader, on its territory, Morocco has decided to postpone the high-level inter-ministerial summit until further notice.
The presence in Spain of Brahim Ghali, the leader of the Polisario, has given rise to a new crisis between Morocco and Spain. In reaction to this unfriendly attitude of Spain, Morocco has just postponed the high-level meeting, reports El Espanol, which recalls that the Polisario chief, admitted to a Spanish hospital after contracting the coronavirus, continues to stay there.
While Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya reassured that Ghali’s hospitalization "will not harm relations with Morocco," her Moroccan counterpart expressed "his disappointment with this act contrary to the spirit of partnership and good neighborliness, and which concerns a fundamental issue for the Moroccan people and its driving forces."
As a result, all the preparatory meetings planned between the Moroccan and Spanish ministers have been canceled, the same source continues, specifying that the ceremony to sign the financing agreements for the projects selected under the 2nd "INNO ESPA MAROC" call for projects, initially scheduled for Wednesday, April 28 at the headquarters of the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, Mines and the Environment, has been "unfortunately suspended for reasons beyond our control," announced the Spanish ambassador to Morocco.
