New Morocco-Portugal Ferry Route to Launch for Summer Travel Season

A new maritime line will connect the port of Portimão in Portugal to the port of Tanger Med to facilitate the return of Moroccans residing abroad (MREs). The first trips could start at the end of this month of June.
The Moroccan alternative after the cancellation of the [Marhaba Operation 2021], excluding Spanish ports, would be among others to have MREs from Europe transit through the port of Portimão in Portugal to connect to the port of Tanger Med. The two countries have reached this agreement which will allow thousands of Moroccans to reach the kingdom by boat to spend their summer vacation.
This new link with Portugal reinforces the maritime lines already authorized for the return of MREs this summer, namely: the port of Sète in France and the port of Genoa in Italy. The round-trip ticket will cost around 4,500 dirhams, or about 423 euros, for families of four with a vehicle on board.

It should be noted that at the request of King Mohammed VI, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has reduced the prices of round-trip travel tickets to allow a large number of MREs from Europe, especially from Spain, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, to return during this summer period.
