Morocco Police Corruption Scandal: Officers Arrested in Forgery and Drug Trafficking Case

Nine individuals, including two police officers serving at the provincial security district of Guelmim, were arrested by the national brigade of the judicial police (BNPJ) on January 20 and 21. They would be involved in a case of forgery, corruption, disclosure of professional secrecy and drug trafficking.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that in exchange for a certain sum of money demanded, the two police officers helped one of the alleged accused to proceed with the forgery of a power of attorney which makes him the legal representative of a company. The objective is to fraudulently remove from the municipal pound a vehicle registered in the name of said company.
In their investigations, the investigators were able to detect that the seized vehicle and deposited in the pound, belongs to a man wanted for his involvement in cases of drug trafficking, murder and aggravated theft. It is this latter who entrusted the accused with the mission of falsifying the power of attorney provided to lift the confiscation of the vehicle.
The suspects were placed in custody for the judicial investigation conducted by the BNPJ in order to clarify this case, determine the level of involvement of each, especially the police officers who risk, in addition to being convicted, to receive disciplinary sanctions for serious professional misconduct.
