Morocco Poised to Boost Construction Material Exports Sixfold, Study Finds

Morocco is able to multiply its Moroccan exports of construction materials by six. This is the conclusion of a study carried out by the Office des changes.
The conclusions of the study entitled "The construction materials sector: performance and development capacities" carried out by the Office des changes are now known. The main conclusion is that Morocco could multiply its exports of construction materials by six to reach an annual flow of around $3 billion. Some competing countries such as Portugal, Turkey, France, Spain and Egypt have already exceeded this level of exports, while others export more than three times the amount that Morocco currently exports.
"The study also specifies that the export volumes of construction materials by some competing or partner countries of Morocco are already at much higher figures. The results of this study also show that Morocco is capable of transforming a large part of its 21 billion DH of imports of construction products and materials into local production," can be read on the official website of the Office des changes.
The realization of these ambitions, which will have a significant impact on the national economy, calls for efforts. In this sense, the Office des changes recommends focusing the industry on the transformation of its industrial processes, the production of high-tech products and the development of partnerships between the public and private sectors to conquer export markets.
