Morocco Pledges to Ease Investment Barriers for Diaspora at COP 25 Meeting

The Minister in charge of Moroccans living abroad made her first official trip to Europe, as part of COP 25. In Spain in particular, where there is a large Moroccan community, Nezha El Ouafi promised to work to facilitate investments by Moroccans living abroad, to contribute to the development of the kingdom.
Despite the activities of COP 25, Nezha El Ouafi met her compatriots residing in Spain who are estimated at some 800,000 Moroccans. A large community that is still facing serious difficulties in investing in Morocco. After receiving a delegation of these Moroccans living in Spain, in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador to Madrid, Karima Benyaich, the minister undertook to work on the resolution of the various problems they face, Le360 reports.
Indeed, a "roadmap will be established to solve the problems of Moroccans living abroad, particularly in terms of investments in Morocco". But also, according to Nezha El Ouafi, it is urgent to define "a new approach for better mobilization of skills and investments in the new development model of the Kingdom".
In addition, she will insist on another equally important project on which her department will have to work in order to ensure the "restructuring and institutionalization of the various programs in place, in order to provide more visibility and restore confidence".
To this end, the minister plans the "dematerialization and digitization of the various services". This, she believes, will "provide close support and facilitate the investment and project implementation procedures for Moroccans living abroad".
