Morocco Plans 430 km High-Speed Rail Expansion in $9.5 Billion Investment

After the new Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line, the National Railway Office (ONCF) plans to build an additional 430 km of high-speed line.
"For the period 2024-2030, we are planning an investment program of 96 billion dirhams," announced Mohamed Rabie Khlie, Director General of ONCF during a special broadcast on MédiTV. According to the official’s details, the core of this program is the construction of an additional 430 km of high-speed line, which will bring "the total length to 630 km before 2030."
For this new section connecting Kenitra to Marrakech, the infrastructure investment is estimated at 53 billion dirhams. On the technical side, the "work will involve moving 100 million m³ of excavated material and constructing dozens of kilometers of viaducts," specified Rabie Khlie.
The ONCF chief also highlighted the importance of railway development: "Railway development is not only aimed at improving mobility, but also serves as a lever to strengthen economic competitiveness and ensure better territorial integration." He added: "It is especially in travel times that the benefits will be immediately visible."
