Morocco’s Planning Commission Outlines COVID-19 Reopening Scenarios

The various options for deconfinement of the pandemic and their health impacts in Morocco have been analyzed. The assessment was carried out and published by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), in a study entitled "Covid-19 pandemic in the national context: situation and scenarios".
In the study entitled "Covid-19 pandemic in the national context: situation and scenarios", the High Commission for Planning (HCP) indicated that it is possible to model different deconfinement scenarios taking into account various health measures such as physical distancing, self-protection, testing and isolation. The study reveals the "natural evolution reference", "trend", "generalized deconfinement", "broad deconfinement" and "restricted deconfinement" scenarios.
The objective of this study is to provide the HCP with an experimental database on a new topic that it should capitalize on later for a good mastery of the national context of the pandemic. This will allow the competent authorities to have reliable data to decide on the conditions for deconfinement. The different scenarios proposed by the study have the advantage of making projections on the evolution of the pandemic for judicious decision-making to counter the spread.
For the High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, the development of scenarios on the possible developments of the pandemic situation in Morocco is a methodological and educational exercise. It is part of a perspective of exiting confinement. The conclusions of this study, like simple trend indicators, are useful for alerting public opinion, provoking researchers and possibly informing decision-making centers, he said in the preamble to this study.
