To capitalize on this favorable climate after years of deadlock, the diplomat aims to bring the parties together before October to outline a framework agreement and launch a transitional implementation process.

At the heart of this diplomatic revival lies Morocco’s autonomy plan, which the Security Council consistently views as a "serious and credible" basis. The UN diplomat clarified that this project was recently detailed to define future governance mechanisms, participation and local administration systems. Reiterating its exclusive commitment to this UN process, Rabat sees its proposal benefiting from growing international convergence of views, supported by countries such as the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Parallel to these multilateral efforts, the United States continues its involvement on the ground. US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will conduct a tour in Algeria and then Morocco from April 27 to May 1. While discussions in Algiers will target regional security and economic partnerships, the Morocco leg will focus on consolidating bilateral security ties as well as coordination in technology and space sectors.
