Morocco’s Pharmaceutical Industry Pushes for Medical Cannabis Legalization

Pharmaceutical players have launched a call for the legalization of cannabis for therapeutic use in Morocco, also asking the authorities to support investments in the transformation and manufacture of cannabis-based products.
This is the Moroccan Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry and Innovation (FMIIP), which organized a congress dedicated to the medical use of cannabis. The meeting was attended by several scientific and economic experts from France, Canada and England, reports Hespress.
Relying on the current law 13-12 on cannabis, these professionals have reflected on the mechanisms for the legalization of therapeutic cannabis. The objective is to achieve the transformation of the raw material into a finished product for pharmaceutical uses, particularly against pain.
Speaking at the end of the proceedings, Mohamed El Boumhadi estimated that this is a project that will directly benefit the provinces where this plant is produced. Local manufacturing of cannabis-based products could boost the economy, he added.
