Morocco's Passport Ranks 79th Globally, Lags Behind 18 African Nations in Visa-Free Access

The Moroccan passport allows access to 61 countries without a visa. And if it is 79th in the world in terms of passport strength, even at the African level the Moroccan green passport is struggling to establish itself.

18 African countries precede the Moroccan passport regarding the issue of power. By this is meant the privileges of entry into foreign countries. This sad reality is reported by the Henley firm, which has just published its 2019 ranking of the most powerful passports in the world. International mobility is therefore greatly reduced for Moroccans in proportion to (many) other countries.

The Seychellois, for example, can access 150 countries without a visa. Mauritius 145. South Africa 99. Botswana 82. And, finally, to complete the African top 5, Namibia at 75.

At the bottom of the African ranking we find Ethiopia, whose passport only allows access to 42 countries without a visa, followed by South Sudan with 41 countries that open their doors to nationals, then Libya (40), Eritrea and Sudan both 39 countries and Somalia with only 32 countries accessible without a visa.

The 13 other countries that precede Morocco in the African ranking are: Lesotho, Kenya, Eswatini, Malawi, Gambia, Tanzania, Zambia, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Sierra Leone and the Moroccan passport is tied with Benin.
