Morocco: Part of the Sidi Kacem hospital collapses (video)

Part of the provincial hospital of Sidi Kacem collapsed, including the operating room and the intensive care unit which had recently been renovated. The incident caused panic among patients and medical staff.
Images and videos showing these parts of the building collapsing have gone viral on social media. Internet users, outraged by this tragedy and the dilapidated state of this hospital, have called for an investigation so that responsibilities are identified and sanctions are imposed.
Activists and civil society actors in the Sidi Kacem region are notably demanding the prosecution of the former provincial delegate of Health and the officials of the company that carried out the renovation work of the operating room and the intensive care unit barely five years ago. According to the current provincial delegate of the Ministry of Health in Sidi Kacem, Akki Moha, this hospital was built in 1986 and needs to be renovated.
The "two affected services have been evacuated and closed, at the request of the Ministry of Health," assured the official, recalling that the supervisory authority, aware of the state of deterioration of the hospital, had commissioned a commission on site, after the appearance of cracks in the walls. A complaint should be filed with the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Rabat.
