Moroccan Police Probe Alleged Misuse of Public Funds in Sidi Kacem Hotel Development

After hearing a former delegate of the National Mutual Aid, one of her still active executives, executives from the Urban Agency, as well as civil servants from administrations to which this type of project is related, the agents of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police summoned the provincial delegate of the National Mutual Aid in Sidi Kacem, to explain himself on the transformation of a social housing complex, financed by a public budget in Sidi Kacem, into a 4-star hotel belonging to private developers. According to sources, this summons should be accompanied by measures that the central management of the National Mutual Aid could take in the coming days, reports the daily Al Akhbar. Will this official be kept in his position or suspended? When a manager of this public institution faces this type of accusation, he is normally suspended from his duties pending the end of the investigation.

At the origin of the outbreak of the case, a complaint against municipal officials members of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) and the National Rally of Independents (RNI) filed formally by a deputy of the Istiqlal Party, who is also a member of the provincial council of Sidi Kacem, with the prosecutor of the king, in charge of financial crimes near the court of Rabat, for "constitution of a criminal gang" and "forgery and use of forgery". In his complaint, the elected official stated that the hotel could not legally have the authorizations it obtained. To support his words, he provided several documents to the justice system.
