Morocco’s Organic Farming Expands to 11,000 Hectares, Still Lags Behind Neighbors

Slim Kabbaj, President of the Organic Entrepreneurs Club (CEBio), highlighted organic agriculture at the opening of the first Regional Organic Fair in Rabat. On this occasion, he told the Map that organic agriculture now covers an area of 11,000 hectares.
[Morocco] attaches importance to organic agriculture. In this sense, its area has increased by nearly 50% compared to the last ten years, reaching 11,000 hectares.
This is certainly a step forward, but Slim Kabbaj noted that this area is significantly lower than in some neighboring countries. In these countries, he said, the area devoted to organic agriculture is around 300,000 hectares or even 900,000 hectares.
For the president of the Organic Entrepreneurs Club (CEBio), the organization of the first regional event for the Organic sector will help develop this dynamic of production and therefore consumption in the country.
